What is a Ship's Agent?
A Ship’s Agent is appointed by and, represents the Ship Owner and charterer (the principal). The duties of a Ship’s Agent vary as each ship, crew, Captain and cargo have different needs.
The agent manages and facilitates the needs of a vessel while it is in port including arranging a berth, facilitating all required port and husbandry services, managing and completing all formal documentation, clearing the ship with port authorities and looking after the needs and requirements of the Owner, Vessel, Crew and Captain during their time in Port.
