Artiulated Goods Vehicle For Inter UK and EU Shipping.
Full Trailer Load
The most common method of moving goods between the UK, EU, Ireland, Baltics and Turkey
Full Truck Load
We move full truck loads in and around the UK carry all sorts of different cargo. However most of our moves will be between key routes such as Germany, Poland and Netherlands.
Important considerations need to be made when moving by truck and it’s vital that you secure your shipment correct. Usually on a pallet with wrap and little overhang. If you can make your pallet stackable, your shipping costs will be lower.
How many pallets can you fit in an HGV?
Your typical 13.7m curtain-sided or boxed trailer will carry about 26 industrial pallets or 33 euro pallets. This will depend on a few factors such as the design of the trailer, pallet overhang and the ability to stack pallets. Specialised types of trailers can increase capacity such as double decker trailers and longer semi trailers
Single Decker Trailers
Standard single deck HGV trailers are 13.7m. These are your everyday, run of the mill type that you’ll see every day. They come in a variety of shapes and sizes but typically you’re looking at curtain-sided, flatbed and box trailers.
Other standard single decker trailers would be the ones that carry containers – skeleton trailers (skelly)
Longer Trailers (LSTs)
The UK allows trailers up to 15.65m which allows an additional 4 industrial pallets or an extra 5 euro pallets. While these trailers are permitted on the road, it’s still rare to see them.
Prepare to load
It’s good to think about how you would load a full trailer. If you don’t have a loading bay, you’ll usually need a forklift.
You can request a taillift or moffat (forklift attached to trailer). These do cost a little bit extra but it can take the pain out of loading your cargo onto the trailer.
It really depends on where in Germany and where in the UK. We would recomend budgetting about 3000-3500EUR to cover haulage, export clearance, import clearance and other paperwork.
It can be a little bit more costly to shunt goods to or from Poland as you’re heading into East Europe. In 2026, it’s about 3000-3800EUR. Get in touch for an up to date quote.
